The Sandringham Flower Show Committee invited B17 to occupy a gazebo on The Royal Route for the 141st show. Although the King and Queen were unable to attend due to other engagements, the new location placed us among fairground amusements and youth training organizations.

A first-time event for us, the Kimbolton Country Fayre included a classic car show and a flypast by two Hawker Hurricanes. We displayed two original nameplates: "Helmingham Hall" and the locally significant "Kimbolton Castle".

Set in the idyllic Cotswolds, the GWSR operated an intensive timetable between Cheltenham Racecourse and Broadway. Eleven steam locomotives worked the line, including two mid-Victorian industrial designs and an Austerity loco.

In a first for the SVR, the Spring Steam Gala was held at Easter. The power lineup was awesome, featuring two Jubilees (Bahamas and Sierra Leone), two Manors, and the new build "Betton Grange".

The B17 promotional stand was supported by six team members inside the marquee at Quorn during a weekend of diverse weather—Friday's high winds gave way to a packed Saturday.
