The Smokebox Door assembly is now ready for welding into position into the Wrapper and discussions held with CTL Seal about this work.
In the meantime, work continues at Shildon machining the two Crank Axle Sweep Webs, the Crank Pin and the two Stub Axles in addition to the two Coupled Axleboxes and the Chimney, all so we are ready to start the three Driving Wheelsets when the Intermediate and Rear axles are received. In parallel, also at Shildon, the bogie design is being put through Finite Element Analysis to assist the preparation of the report to go to the Railway Regulator.
The Cab is moving forward at speed; with the main CAD of the Cab complete, work has started on the manufacture and ordering of the various sections of steel for the Cab and a mounting jig. The CAD for the floor is almost complete and CAD work is starting on the rear sections of the running boards inc. the rear buffer beam, the six splashers, the forward and rear footsteps and the platforms and angles up to the front buffer beam.
Discussions have continued on the fabrication of the cylinders and we have received a 3D printed picture of the left hand cylinder to help with the discussions.
