Chimney: Work has been speedy, after the contract was placed with William Cook's in January, for the pattern to be made and for casting. Pictured are the two sections of the pattern. The casting, in iron, by a partner company of William Cook's, Ductile Castings Ltd. of Scunthorpe, is now complete.

Smokebox: Since placing the contract for the various Smokebox parts with Daniela Works Ltd. in mid January, progress has been rapid, as can be seen from the pictures. It is planned to have the Smokebox Assembly at the Open Day on 12th April and immediately afterwards to weld it into place in the Wrapper. The parts on order and to be made are: Smokebox Door Knob, Smokebox Dart, Dart Boss, Dart Inner and Outer Handles, Smokebox Door Hinges, Brackets and Pin, Smokebox Inner Baffle, and the Door Retainer Bracket and Mounts.
To faciliate all this, the Door and the Ring and Seal were shipped respectively from their manufacturing locations to Shilton, where the assembly is taking shape as the components are finished.
