On Tuesday 17th January, members Peter Wright and Richard Munns attended a meeting of the March Probus Club to deliver a talk about the effect that the 1953 floods had on the railway.
The talk described the immediate damage and disruption to the railway system, what was done to continue services where possible on alternative routes and what remedial work was needed. It also described the resourcefulness, resilience and dedication displayed by railway staff at a difficult time.
